MWR Star is an initiative to recognize exemplary employees in MWR. People who go above and beyond to assist MWR customers and their co-workers. One individual is chosen monthly to be featured as our star, spotlighting details about themselves and their position within MWR.
1. How long have you worked for MWR?
I have worked for MWR a little over three years. I started in November of 2016.
2. What do you do for MWR?
I am a Recreation Assistant at the Alternate Escapes Café where I primarily run our Battleground Gaming area. I rent out video games and movies to our soldiers and their families so they can relax and have fun during their free time.
3. Where are you from?
I was born and raised right here in Martinez, about twenty minutes off post.
4. What do you enjoy doing in your off time?
I enjoy reading and playing video games in my off time. My favorite genre of book would be fantasy, while my favorite type of video game would RPGs, or role-playing games. What I really enjoy the most is a good story.
5. What are some words of wisdom that you would like to share?
The biggest piece of advice I could give, and this applies to both new hires and seasoned veterans, is to do your best to get along with your coworkers. The people you work with are people that see you almost as much as your family and I can’t stress enough how much easier it is to get through a tough day with friendly faces by your side.
6. What do you enjoy about working for MWR?
I think the thing I enjoy most about working for MWR is that it truly does feel like a second family. They are my close family I work with every day, the relatives you don’t get to see enough at Marketing and our other operations, and of course there are the in-laws at the Business Operations Division Office that you always want to impress. And when we all come together, we help make Fort Gordon a place everyone can enjoy.
