At Hilltop, we offer beginner and intermediate Western and English riding lessons, designed to help you become a confident and skilled rider. Whether you're new to horseback riding or looking to enhance your skills, our experienced instructors will guide you every step of the way.

Lessons are held for one hour each week, on Monday and Tuesday. And the best part? Our lessons are open to ages 7 and up, so the whole family can join in on the fun!

During your lessons, you'll receive comprehensive instruction covering a range of essential skills, including ground manners, grooming, tacking, mount/dismount techniques, and more. Our goal is to equip you with the knowledge and confidence to advance your riding abilities in a safe and supportive environment.

If you prefer a more personalized learning experience, we also offer private and semi-private lessons. Whether you thrive in a group setting or prefer one-on-one attention, we have the perfect option for you.

To make sure you're fully prepared for your riding adventure, we provide all the necessary equipment, including the horse, saddle, tack, and riding helmet. Safety is always our top priority.

Have any questions or need more information? Give us a call at +1 (706)791-4864. Our friendly team is here to assist you and make sure you have all the details you need.

Private English or Western

Private: $60/person/lesson
Semi-Private: $55/person/lesson

All lessons start with meeting your instructor, an assessment of basic horse knowledge and setting your goals for the season. Lessons provided start from the ground up and advance at the student’s pace. Instruction shall include but not limited to horse terminology, grooming, tacking, meeting your mount, ground manners and horse husbandry. Students will be given weekly "homework" lessons to help the advancement of the students’ knowledge on and off horseback.

Students are responsible for arriving to all lessons 10 minutes prior to lesson start time and dressed ready to participate. All lessons will start and end as scheduled. HTRS will provide the mount, saddle, tack, and riding helmet with lessons. Jeans are fine to ride in, shoes may be either tennis shoes or boots.

Registration

Students must register in person during HTRS operating hours. Registration is continual from August-March. The lesson season starts in September and will conclude in May. Lessons are held on a weekly basis for one hour for the entire lesson season.

Payment & Cancellations

Payments for lessons must be paid in advance monthly to HTRS office during operating hours. We accept cash, checks and all major credit cards.

HTRS requires at least a 24hr notification of lesson cancellations and the balance will be moved forward as needed. HTRS will keep the payment for any lessons missed without a 24hr notice from the student. If the student would like to be credited for the missed lesson, they must show documentation of illness or emergency.

HTRS will contact students in advance if lessons must be canceled for any reason and the balance will be moved forward as needed. Instructors may be exchanged at any time during the season due to staffing or program changes this does not constitute canceling lessons. Lessons will be held if there is at least one instructor available.

Refunds

Refunds will only be issued with a receipt and valid reason for refund. All requests for refunds will be made to the HTRS facility manager.

Rescheduled Lessons

HTRS will reschedule lessons due to: Thunder, lightning, rain (down pours), snow, ice, post closures, heat index over 101F or greater or freezing temperatures.

Please be advised, if lessons are canceled due to inclement weather there may not be much advanced notice.

Holiday Closures

This facility will not be open for lessons on federal public holidays or during any Youth Horsemanship Camp dates to include Thanksgiving break, Christmas break and Spring Break (Master’s Week).
