Camp starts at 8:00 a.m. with announcements. Activities start at 8:30 a.m. with a skillset evaluation in the arena, if your child misses the skillset evaluations, they will automatically be placed in the beginner group. This evaluation is done to assess individual camper’s knowledge of horsemanship to be placed in the correct group for activities. All skill levels are welcome to this horsemanship camp from beginner to advanced.

As a reminder to parents/guardians, when picking up and dropping off your child, they must be signed in/out. This is a policy of Hilltop Riding Stables to keep accurate count of all children in our care. If you pick up your child away from the stables, at an activity, please remember to sign them out with the staff member responsible for their care. Hilltop staff cannot leave an activity without an accurate count of all children. It is imperative that each participant is on time and willing to participate in each activity. Failure to do so will affect all participants in all groups. Horse camp is a high-risk activity, 100% cooperation and self-discipline are required.

Youth Horsemanship Camp is a full day activity, this program is designed to introduce youth to the equine world with basic horsemanship and farm etiquette. All children attending will learn grooming, Western and English saddle parts, bridling, body parts of horse, English and Western styles of riding, stall maintenance, bathing, horsemanship and safety, riding lesson in the arena and trail rides, outdoor recreation activities.

Each camper will be given 1 hour for lunch. It is encouraged to bring a large refillable water bottle and plenty of snacks. Hilltop does not provide refrigeration or microwaves. A cooler is recommended to keep lunches and drinks cool. Campers will have their own locker for storage during their attendance of camp.

All participants must wear closed toe shoes, and weather appropriate clothing. We do ride in light rain. Helmets are required and provided, however, if you would like to bring your own helmet that is ok. It is recommended to pack a change of clothes and bathing suit for Spring Break and Summer Camp sessions.

June registration opens May 1st. July registration opens May15th. In order to get on the camp list you must submit a registration form. Each camper is limited to 2 weeks of camp per summer to allow new campers to attend. Payments are collected 2 weeks prior to the camp week you are signed up for. Camp reservations are first come first serve. If payment is not received by the requested date, you will be removed from the camp list and a camper on the waitlist will take your place.

Hilltop Riding Stables and staff will not be responsible for any lost or dropped valuables. We recommend that you leave your valuables at home.
